The Secret to Glowing Skin
Potential Hydrogen, more commonly known as pH, measures your skin’s acid/alkaline balance from 0 to 14, or highly acidic to highly alkaline. Your skin’s pH balanced is based on its acid mantle. This is a fine film consisting of amino, fatty, and lactic acids, and natural oils and hydrating factors. The mantle maintains moisture, while forming a protective barrier against allergens, pollution, and bacteria. The optimum pH level is slightly acidic at 5.5, with 7 being neutral. This can be tipped into excessively acidic or alkaline by various environmental factors, including air pollution, dry weather and extreme hot and cold.
Although skin is at its most healthy while remaining slightly acidic, pushing it too far with certain products can damage the skin’s natural oils and defenses.
Over time, your skin’s acid mantle is weakened by ageing and environmental stressors. This reduces its protective qualities and can lead to premature ageing.
Actively Rebalancing Your Skin
Extracted from milk products, the Lactic Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) has been included in skincare regimen for centuries. Cleopatra’s milk baths and cream face masks of legend were, little did she know, using this valuable compound to re-energise her appearance. AHAs generally are gaining increasing popularity with skincare experts, beauty and health spas and many at-home products. In part this is due to newly established links to the skin’s natural cell renewal process, and a consequent improvement in the appearance of wrinkles. In pH Balancing Cleanser, it’s included to help tackle your skin’s alkaline imbalance, using a light acidic touch to restore equilibrium.
Nutritious Avocado Fruit Extract has been expertly added, to balance the natural exfoliating qualities of Lactic Acid. Well known for its moisturising capabilities, Avocado is also naturally abundant in Vitamin E, which is understood to contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Its various revitalising properties have also been the subject of significant research. With these compelling factors in mind, Skin Doctors have included Avocado Fruit Extract to soothe, hydrate, and fortify, blissfully leaving your skin purified and nourished.
Compounds extracted from coconut oil and other cleansing agents are also fused into this cooling cream, to enhance Lactic Acid and Avocado’s skin-loving effects. These precious ingredients work in harmony to aid in your skin purifying regime, wiping away the day’s environmental stresses and priming for other skincare formulas. Everyday use can refresh in the morning and restore in the evening, maintaining your skin’s balance all day.
